Meet Lynn Marshall, Family Law CASA’s New Donor Relations Officer
Lynn Marshall brings a deep love of storytelling and community-building to her new role as Donor Relations Officer. In this Q&A, she shares how her CASA volunteer experience shaped her path—and why she’s excited to be part of Family Law CASA.
We are happy to announce that Lynn Marshall joined the Family Law CASA staff in March as our new Donor Relations Officer, deepening our commitment to community and connection. Some of you may have met Lynn at the 2025 Together for Tomorrow Luncheon; this brief interview will give you the chance to learn more about her.
Tell us a little bit about your background?
Philanthropy and donor relations are a second career for me. My background is in journalism, as a researcher and a writer. Ten years ago, I set out to create a new career in nonprofit communications – and quickly discovered that the elements I most loved from my previous life – storytelling and conversation, fit best into the development arena.
Before coming to Family Law CASA I was the Development Director at Parent Trust for Washington Children – a statewide nonprofit dedicated to child abuse prevention. Becoming Family Law CASA’s Donor Relations Officer means I get to concentrate on making connections and building community and while remaining focused on creating (and funding!) better futures for kids.
Personally, I’m someone who loves being outdoors – walking, running, sitting under a tree with my dog, these are all things that recharge my batteries. My husband and I are dog lovers. We have never been without a dog in our many years as a family. Our dog Mouse – a 140lb. Mastiff, is a big part of my life, as is traveling and cooking.
What attracted you to Family Law CASA?
I first became aware of child welfare issues as a volunteer Dependency CASA. Supporting CASAs professionally feels like a natural fit for me. I also know that family conflict around divorce, particularly when families don’t have a lot of financial resources, and/or face constant systemic barriers can leave kids very vulnerable to the kind of trauma that has lifelong consequences.

Volunteering as a CASA changed my life, opening my eyes to the struggles that families around us continually experience, the visceral realities of systemic disparities, and the profound impact that has on kids. The work CASAs do is profoundly important; changing the lives of children for the better and helping the justice system truly work. And at the same time the work is also hard and often personally challenging.
It sounds trite, but I know serving as a CASA made me a better human being – and I am humbled to be able to support others doing the work here at Family Law CASA. And I am so excited to connect with our donors and supporters about the work.
It takes all of us to create better lives for the children in our communities. Without our donors, our CASAs could not help families find the stability required to heal from generations of trauma and injustice. Real change comes from collective effort, volunteering, donating, and educating each other ; that’s the true power of philanthropy.
We’re honored to have Lynn Marshall at Family Law CASA, where her passion for storytelling and donor engagement strengthens our mission to serve children and families. Connect with Lynn on LinkedIn today.
